I am nearly finished with the orders which have been hanging over me for months now. If that sounds like I haven't enjoyed making them, that's not entirely true, but I don't get as much pleasure out of making something which I've done before, it feels more like a chore. And the designs I've been fulfilling lately are 5/6 years old.
This blanket design was one of a range I made for my (now 6 year old) daughter's ante-natal group. I suppose it sometimes feels a bit production line to make the same designs over and over.
So I've come to a decision; which is to just make and sell rather than take orders. I have a real problem with the idea of anyone telling me (or even asking nicely and paying me at the same time) what to make and when to make it, I'd rather just follow my own path. My friend Marilyn (who feels the same), believes this is because we are 'free spirits'! (I'm adopting that philosophy too so that I don't feel quite so lazy, ungrateful or downright Veruca Salt-ish!) I'll miss making these painting aprons in some ways, but I feel it's time to move on!
Talking of which, here is a Work In Progress. I'm not going to reveal what it is yet, but I promise you'll find out before Christmas!
